Adult dosing
- standard: dose: 300; unit: mg PO TID; route: PO; interval: TID, titrate to effect; fixed: true; max: dose: 1200; unit: mg PO TID; route: PO; interval: TID (max 3600mg/day); fixed: true
Pediatric dosing
- contraindicated: true; reason: Not typically used in pediatric emergency medicine; consult neurology
Clinical pearls
- Useful as opioid-sparing adjunct for pain management in the ED
- Renally cleared — requires significant dose reduction in CKD
- No significant drug interactions
- Takes days-weeks for full neuropathic pain effect — not ideal as acute monotherapy
