Adult dosing
- drip: dose: 0.1; maxDose: 3; unit: mcg/kg/min; route: IV; weightBased: true; titrationTarget: Titrate to MAP ≥65
Pediatric dosing
- drip: dose: 0.1; maxDose: 2; unit: mcg/kg/min; route: IV; weightBased: true; titrationTarget: Titrate to MAP ≥65
Contraindications
- Hypovolemia (relative — resuscitate first)
Clinical pearls
- First-line pressor per Surviving Sepsis Campaign for septic shock
- Can be given peripherally for short duration if central access unavailable
- Titrate to MAP >= 65 mmHg
- Add vasopressin 0.03 units/min if requiring >0.25 mcg/kg/min of NE
